Re: Buying an M2
For Step 4, I personally suggest mirroring the motor mount so the wires are on the right -- I found the wires were rubbing against / moving with the filament guide, but moving the wires to the other side of the motor fixed that. Since you're in HI, search the forum for filament tubs -- it'll help ke...

Re: Are the printer parts printed in PLA?
I printed mine in esun PETg, with support -- manual though, just a few here and there (the stuff bridges quite nicely.) I also dropped the size from the default 4 to 3 -- the supports are thinner, but still work fine, and came right out for me perfectly. And I didn't see it mentioned above, but I su...

Re: Firmware Download
I'm going to mod that motor mount again and move the cable mount to the right side so that the cables don't have to cross from left to right behind the filament tube. Funny, I just did this a couple weeks ago -- after a short in the thermistor, I noticed the wiring was jumping up with every retract...

First print with a .25 nozzle, .1 layer
Since I "needed" a backup hot end, I figured I'd get an additional nozzle option while I was at it. (Actually, I got both a .25 and a .5, but I'm trying the .25 first.) This is also (I think) the first time I've tried a .1 layer height. Went with a .3 extrusion width, mostly as a guess. I won't say ...

Re: Part Pulled Chip Out of Glass
Any estimate on how many re-uses of the Kapton you get before you have to replace? (Not counting intentional holes. ;) ) I've been having good success with *almost* bare glass -- just the lightest leftover film residue from glue stick (used a zillion times, then rinsed off with a finger rub.) You ca...

Re: Getting running in ABS as soon as I get my M2
(wait, is homemade injection molding a thing?) Yes. :) http://gingerybookstore.com/InjectionMoldingAttachment.html (I have some of the Gingery books, oft-perused though I haven't had the opportunity/space to implement yet. But having a 3D printer to make parts from PLA for investment casting should...

Re: Part Pulled Chip Out of Glass
Well, add me to the "lucky fan club" -- wasn't even that big a part. Glass was cool, I was sliding a wide razor under the edge of the part, and off it came with 3 pieces of glass.
I may have to break down and get aluminum, though I don't have tools here to cut it down to size...

Re: A Bed Spring
Forgot to post my 'thanks' a few weeks ago, but this was my first ABS print -- figured it'd flex better than PLA. It's a truly impressive spring. :) Haven't taped mine down yet, though -- thinking about using velcro tape, in case I need to remove it for a really tall print, but haven't procured any ...

Re: Choosing a new hot end
Is the V4 actually sold anywhere on the site, or is it a special request? I just placed an order (including my first second sheet of boro!) and didn't see it listed anywhere.

Re: Spastic hotend temps
What jimc said. ;) There are two sets of wires (on mine, the insulating sleeves make it actually look like one set of two red ones, and a single black one) feeding into the side of the V3b hotend. The two red ones (top) handle actually heating the hot end; the black ones (bottom) are to the thermist...
