Re: Modified Ikea enclosure
Just occurred to me that the sloped back means I can mount a fan in the top section, have the case still hard against a wall, but get airflow out the back. I've seen around on the forum that running the M2 inside the enclosure with the door closed will run above safe temps for the electronics. Is it...

Modified Ikea enclosure
I bought the popular Ikea-parts M2 enclosure, but even a single print with the printer sideways drove me crazy, so I headed to a workshop and made some modifications. You only need to add about 5cm of depth to the box to get clearance. I made the back sloped, mostly just to look cool, as I only need...

Re: Missing extruder assembly instructions?
So I managed to loosen the screws on the rubber pieces and push the corners in tight, and re-tighten. Now got in a perfect state where the HPB sits super snugly down the bottom, and the glass just lightly presses in and seems to stay put and never need clips.

Re: Image or design Infill
I'm sure there are some complex solutions that involve using plotter or 2d CAM software to generate gcode, then editing it to augment it with the extrusions commands etc to make your printer 'draw' in plastic on a single layer. However generating a 0.2mm thick 3d model, which will slice into just a ...

Re: Buying printed parts
Normally any of the parts in the vicinity of the hotend need to be printed in ABS, so they aren't going to go soft on you at ~60C like PLA does. The hotend mount especially. I made my motor mount from ABS. If you ever did decide to test ABS, and had 100C heat rising up off the heatbed, I'd be pretty...

Re: Buying printed parts
Any idea where the newer extruder motor mount file can be found? The extruder motor mount that came with my recently purchased m2 appears to be a improved version of the one found in the link above. Perhaps the image is old but the actual file is for the updated version? Correct, the thumbnail on t...

Re: Buying printed parts
The motor mount (I believe the piece that is being described as broke) has been beefed up on the Makergear wiki too.
I have seen of people zip-tieing it closed in an attempt to get enough rigidity to print out a replacement mount that is close enough

Re: Buying the M2: Help me start out right
Worth mentioning that all the posts reminding you to print a motor mount are influenced by the older design that had a hole in the right side, that turned out to be a weak point. It seems that the hole has been removed, and the entire part reinforced with a rib that runs around it - so chances of it...

Re: Help printing threads on this part
Looks like the threads could be too small for the layer height you are using (there seems to only be about 3 layers per thread). You could try lowering the layer height. Also appears that the weird section aligns with all the layer-start 'pimples' lower down. There should be an option somewhere in t...

Re: Printing a part to the edge of the build plate
I've wondered about this too. I use the 8x10 plate to ask students what's the longest t-rex print the M2 can make. Are there big effects from having both x and y moving simultaneously? I haven't noticed any but my prints are usually printed on the x or y axis. No noticeable effects. Even if you ali...
