Re: Small Strands in Gaps
Kinda hard to understand exactly what you mean, a screenshot would help. It sounds like there is an overhang, and slic3r is generating supports for you. They are intended to be easily removable after the print is completed. You can disable support generation in slic3r, but you may find the overhangs...

Re: Z-height, first layer height, and part height
Awesome. Thanks.
I can't fathom how that <100% behavior makes any sense, but now that I know, at least I can tweak it appropriately.

Z-height, first layer height, and part height
Hypothetical situation: Say I'm printing a part that is 1mm high with 0.1mm layers, and the z-stop is calibrated at 0.2mm above the glass. It seems the optimal gcode here would print the first layer with the z-position set to 0, but extrude for 0.2mm layer, then print 8x 0.1mm layers to get the fina...

Re: Questions and thoughts from a newbie
The endstop switches are microswitches that look very similar to this: http://reprapteile.de/media/catalog/product/cache/2/thumbnail/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/e/n/endstop.jpg The metal sticky-out bit on the far side is the metal lever they are referring to. There are 3 limit switches on the M...

Re: Machined Aluminum Filament Drive
I would try to better understand what is happening to cause the hot-end to hit something solid enough to loosen the groove mount. Unless you fix that problem, the same thing will happen with the metal metal filament drive but instead of the easily-replaceable filament drive loosening, something else...

Print quality debugging
I recently started with my M2, and have been experiencing a few minor print quality issues - but I have no idea where to start tweaking to remove them. Reprap has a troubleshooting page with pictures, but it extremely sporadic about what it does, and doesn't cover. Anyone know of good, and slightly ...

Re: Really Getting Started - Purchase Decision
I received a kit only a week ago, and can confirm that the new power brick supports both voltages. In fact, there are no less than about 3 separate warnings in the forms of stickers, and sheets of paper, ensuring *nobody* forgets to set it to the correct voltage before using it!.

My assembly findings
I finished building my kit over a couple nights. My tips/findings: Pressing the nuts into the belt clamps is a really tight fit. The easiest way to get them in, is to put the bolt though the hole, screw them the nut on partially, then push it down onto the bench to press it in, with the bolt keeping...

Re: A good start
Hi willnewton - do you have a link to the thingiverse page, or the STL, for that vase you printed a few pages back ? The faceted square-ish one. I really like the look of it, but couldn't see it on thingiverse.
