OctoPrint Temps stuck on "Off"
This is something that has been bugging me with OctoPrint for as long as I can remember-- every once in a while it seems to get stuck in this "off" mode where I can no longer set the extruder and bed temps. The "Actual" temp display just shows "off" instead of the current temp, then any attempt to s...

Re: Large Overhead Filament Spools
It's easier to just set-and-forget a giant spool that can run for two weeks straight though. We got the damper dialed in on the roller bar and are using 10kg spools without issues now.

Large Overhead Filament Spools
I've been trying out some of the larger size filament spools due to the amount of time and wasted filament you save with these. So far I've only found two suppliers that deviate from the standard 1Kg spool: Gizmo Dork with their 5Kg spools and Push Plastic with their giant 10Kg and even 25Kg spools....

Re: Detachable Spool Holder
I'm building new printer cabinets for work which have an overhead filament rack for holding those giant 5Kg spools that Gizmo Dork sells too. We have a big ShopBot and can crank out 20 cabinets in just a few days. I think one of those spools would let us print continually all week without one filame...

Detachable Spool Holder
I'm working on compacting our M2 farm at work and came up with this detachable spool holder that lets you place printers closer to each other by removing the extra space that has to be allowed for sliding the spool on and off. This would also be useful if you were putting your printer in a box that ...

Re: Filament Empty Alarm
I was concerned about the filament dragging across anything plastic on the switch, since thousands of feet of filament being pulled over that could wear a divot in it and cause it to eventually fail. The switches with brass wheels are kind of hard to find on amazon, but here's the one I managed to l...

Re: Filament Empty Alarm
If I think there's a risk of running out of filament, I weigh the spool before I start. I have saved an empty spool from each filament supplier I use for a tare reference. The weight estimates from S3D seem to be pretty much spot-on. I use 1.05 for ABS density and 1.25 for PETG. I've run prints fro...

Re: Filament Empty Alarm
That all sounds possible, but I'm not motivated enough to do it. I can catch 80% of my run-outs with just the buzzer and still have time to feed in a new spool. It's the overnight run-outs or away from home ones that will still get me. It has the same loudness as a smoke detector alarm, so it might ...

Filament Empty Alarm
After having so many prints ruined from filament run-outs, including while I was even sitting in the same room and did not catch it in time, I finally got around to making a simple alarm that can be heard anywhere in the house when a spool runs empty. The alarm can of course be turned off so that it...

Re: Hatchbox PETG - Looking Good!
80 works too, looks like that is the low end cutoff for adhesion. The Rave 4x Mega hairspray works too. I like that you can squirt the non-aerosol spray on a hot plate and wipe it around without it gumming up the way ABS slurry would if you tried that. That allows recoating without waiting for the p...
