Re: thoughts on new M3 I dual

Sticking a screwdriver in the fan is a bad idea (and it happens in moments of inattention in spite of one's best efforts), but I would not expect a piece of wayward plastic to do more than just stop it. At any rate, I have printed for years and never had an issue with the electronics enclosure fan, ...

Re: Extrude Motor Not working after 24v Upgrade

Just a quick comment---if you have the original Z stepper motor, watch it very carefully. It gets very hot and the 24V upgrade will shorten its life considerably. If your Z stage starts slipping, then you will need to buy a new Z stepper. This may or may not happen to you, but it has happened to sev...

Re: M3 vs. M2 experience questions

I can't speak for the pros and cons of the M3 but I'll just say that I purchased a 2nd-hand M2 and donated it to the math/science program at the local high school, and they couldn't be happier with it. Occasionally I get called over to service it (like I will be doing tomorrow), but overall they jus...

Re: My M3ID appears to be dead :-(

Huh. I would not have expected the combination of WiFi and USB to make the machine completely unresponsive. Thanks for posting a follow-up with the resolution; that will certainly help users in the future if they run into the same issue.

Re: My M3ID appears to be dead :-(

The electronics board has three fuses, one large automotive one and two small surface-mount type parts in little sockets. I don't think that these have changed in the RAMBo revisions since the one I have. Remove each of these, starting with the automotive fuse, and check for continuity. If a fuse ha...

So what happens with the purge and wipe for each extruder?

Re: Fan only full-OFF or full-ON. Tried 12V, & 24V fans. Hm?

Really, the best solution is either to get 24V fans and wire them in parallel, or get a cheap adjustable-voltage buck converter and set it to output 12V, and wire the fans in parallel to the output of that. The buck converters are so small you can just wrap it in electrical tape and cram it somewher...

Re: thoughts on new M3 I dual

I might be talking out-of-school because I haven't printed anything in duplication mode but it looks like the fff file for duplication adjusts the size of the useable bed space so that you can not print a part that will overlap. Oh, that's a neat little trick. I didn't know you could change the bed...

. . . which should be good news for M2 owners. It should be pretty easy to change the fan mount on the M2 to match the design of the M3.

Re: thoughts on new M3 I dual

Get the Simplify3D setups for the M3ID and use: "MakerGear M3 ID Duplication.fff" There's a g-code "M605 S2 R0 X100" in the script which causes both extruders to respond to X motion commands simultaneously, with an optional argument for the X offset between them. That's put in the starting g-code sc...
