Slic3r's experimental builds have this feature but im not quite sure how to use it yet. Thanks for the refresh JSC, I was having some woes on the original holder as it didnt print nicely and the razor slipped a lot. do you recommend that the shield is printed in the orientation provided or to rotate it standing up?

If you have a Dremel (Who doesnt?) you can also try friction welding. Depending on the case, it may be a viable option. I'm hesitant to add my school's name to the list, but I will let my boss know that you are researching and leave it up to him.

Unfortunately I know of a few schools in the area that HAVE a 3D printer, but don't necessarily USE, or even know how to use, said 3D printer.

hmm I dont foresee that i will be using a VIki anytime soon. Is it possible to use the M600 command with pronterface? after appropriate firmware updates of course

yes I have a nice pair of digital calipers at home. the printer is at work/school so I tend to forget the essential equipment. I'll probably just ask the Dean to put out for some measuring equipment, Or go bug the physics teacher for his calipers.
