Re: Extrusion calibration

That's good, because I'd rather work on a cold machine, anyway. I'll turn up my infill percentage in my next calibration session and see what that gets me. How sensitive is the print quality to extrusion temperature? I haven't noticed a significant difference between 200C and 210C, but I also haven'...

Re: Extrusion calibration

Hmm. Well, I have Extrusion Width set to Manual, 0.4mm. I'll take a look at the Z adjustment app. Note that I did all of my leveling and initial gap adjustment cold, since quick start doesn't allow doing it hot.

Re: Extrusion calibration

I haven't gotten the hang of extrusion calibration yet. I started off with a single-walled test square, adjusting the extrusion multiplier for 0.4mm wall thickness. I carefully avoided the bottom layer while measuring with an excellent digital micrometer, so I wouldn't be throwing off my measurement...

Re: Quick Start - 2mm hex wrench step not available?

I got my M2 about a week ago, and I had some related confusion. Every time I went through the leveling process in Quick Start, it only directed me to perform five steps, with no mention of leveling screws. That led me to incorrectly assume that the leveling process must obviously rely on software co...

Re: Happy new M2 owner!

I've just finished leveling out the bed again after applying a PEI sheet to the glass, and I now realize that I was completely wrong about thinking the bed leveling was screw-less, with software compensation. Doh! As I went through Quick Start, sure enough, I ended up adjusting leveling screws at th...

"Yeah, I'm interested!"

PEI pre-attached to the smooth side of the plate also interests me.

Yay!

Re: How You Too Can Achieve Printing Nirvana

So if I mount PEI on the smooth side of a MIC 6 plate, could I then put it on the printer with either the sandblasted aluminum side or the PEI side up to give me different options? Sign me up! :) I'll send a PM asking to get on the list for the next build.

Re: How You Too Can Achieve Printing Nirvana

A friendly little hedgehog sent me over here to learn about these MIC 6 plates as a possible upgrade for my brand-spankin'-new Rev. E printer. I'm not sure if I fully understand the concept. Is it basically a really flat, ground, stress-relieved aluminum plate to replace the borosilicate glass? What...

Re: X and Y Layer Shifts

Matter of fact, since you do know what you're doing already That is high praise coming from anybody on this forum! you might want to just bypass the PEI on glass and look into the MIC6 plate with PEI. It's the closest thing to Nirvana there is, and it's a one time purchase. Damn near indestructible...

Re: X and Y Layer Shifts

Don't feel bad! It's my own fault for not expecting that to happen. After all, I work with Kapton tape all the time in my electronics-related job and hobbies, so I should know better. Anyway, I view that factory-applied film as training wheels while I'm figuring out which approach to settle on throu...
