Stiffening The Long Horizontal Gantry

I had problems with the long gantry deforming due to high belt tensions. I ran higher than standard belt tensions to handle large pieces without dropping accelerations too far. I was advised to shim the linear way's rail. That's not the right way to go. The right way to go is to stiffen the beam ben...

Re: M2 Build Plates Slowly Deforming

Of course. I was being imprecise. I've lowered the speeds per various recommendations and the accelerations months ago.

Re: Making a Replacement Cooling Impeller

I hadn't seen that this discussion went on after the first few responses. And thanks for the kind words, folks! Bratag, yes, I improved the design considerably. The original straight-bladed soft plastic impeller was really only appropriate for radial discharge, whereas the fan housing only allowed f...

Re: M2 Build Plates Slowly Deforming

I had not considered the possibility that the gantry frame would bow. I would never have guessed that a composite beam formed from the aluminum gantry and the steel linear way would bend that significantly under an axial load that's so close to the beam's long axis, causing a relatively small moment...

M2 Build Plates Slowly Deforming

We have two M2s. One started as a V3b and has been upgraded to a V4, and the newer started life as a V4. The earlier unit had the obsolete bed strain relief and has the larger lead vertical screw. Unit #2 has the finer pitch vertical screw and the bed strain relief with the convolute-sheathed cable....

Making a Replacement Cooling Impeller

One of the pieces of equipment on our lines is a large ground lug welder that clamps things like battery lugs over heavy cables between great big electrodes and zaps them with very high currents to fuse the lugs to the cable. The welding heads -- the big conductive ceramic blocks that actually conta...

Re: Viki 2.0 gives you small pox :(

Makergear support answered via email. The file linked by Josh earlier in this thread is for the older 24v M2, pre-black-z-motor.

Re: Viki 2.0 gives you small pox :(

Outstanding. Is the archive Marlin-Development-Viki2-M2 suitable for the 24V M2 with the black vertical motor and finer leadscrew, or the older version with the silver/black vertical motor and the heavier screw??

Viki 2 Flat Panel Cabinet

Sort of a retro '50s steelcase-style panel cabinet for the Viki 2 LCD. Strain relief for the cable built into the back bottom edge and bottom cover. Designed for #6 sheet metal screws -- 4x pan head to hold the panel in, and 6x flat head to attach the base and strain relief. http://www.scifiwheels.c...
