I use a MAP gas torch to heat the nozzle up. It reduces anything stuck in there to ash :D

Working with surfaces is tricky. Its almost a black art. If you're new to 3d modeling, I would recommend learning the basics with solid models first (extrude, cut, revolve, sweep..etc) before venturing into surfaces.

Was it printed in ABS? Typically, thin walls and ABS usually leads to warpage and cracking if it wasn't printed in some sort of enclosure to keep the surrounding temperature stable.

Im not sure how crippled the student version is really; I have solidworks, but may get this for my daughter! When I used the student version of Solidworks (about 10 yrs ago), all the features were available to us. FEA (linear & non-linear),CFD, and thermal analysis were also available, but I don't ...

If you have the motor on the top, don't lube it. If you have the motor on the bottom, lube it.
