Re: M2's repeatedly stop extrusion mid-print
I have to be careful getting it aligned initially, but I've never had a problem with my drive slipping or with filament shaving. You may want to loosen the mount for the hotend, and see if you can scoot it a bit in the right direction.

Re: M2's repeatedly stop extrusion mid-print
One thing that I always thought might make them last longer is to install a thin brass tube on the lower end. That would have eliminated the wear that killed mine. The drive has to push the filament into the hot end against a certain amount of resistance. The filament will want to flex to the side i...

Re: M2's repeatedly stop extrusion mid-print
The problem I've had with filament drive wear is at the bottom, not the top. Here's a thread with some of my adventures:

Re: Alternative to Simplify3D Machine Control Panel?
Even if they finally announced Version 5 tomorrow, they have pissed off so many customers it's hard to imagine them surviving. Even their most loyal users have mostly switched to free options like Cura or PrusaSlicer to get features that were on the S3D user wish list for years. The list of broken p...

Re: Alternative to Simplify3D Machine Control Panel?
My understanding is that Octoprint requires Octopi, which requires a Raspberry Pi, which means space on my bench, more cables, and yet another a power brick. My PC where I do my CAD designs & slicing is about 5 feet from my printer. Schlepping an SD card back & forth is hardly much of an inconvenien...

Re: Alternative to Simplify3D Machine Control Panel?
My current workflow is to slice in PrusaSlicer for most stuff, partly to get more comfortable with it. I have a ton of S3D factory files, and if I have to re-print something, I use that. Occasionally, I will slice a new design in S3D, but that's pretty rare. Once I slice a model, I put the Gcode fil...

Re: Alternative to Simplify3D Machine Control Panel?
Thanks! I'll take a look at it. At first glance, Pronterface looks perfect.

Alternative to Simplify3D Machine Control Panel?
I have a five year old M2E, still chugging along nicely. I'm mostly using PrusaSlicer for my routine printing jobs, in anticipation of the demise of Simplify3D. The one thing I still use S3D for is the "Machine Control Panel", which allows me to communicate directly with the printer, send Gcode comm...

Re: Where is the Makergear User Community?
I still love and use my M2E almost constantly. I researched the market thoroughly in 2017, and bought it as a "kit" for my first printer, and I have no regrets. I don't post here often because it just keeps working fine. With cheaper machines filling up the "beginner" market, I suspect customers for...

Re: Garnier Fructis Extra Hold Hairspray Discontinued!
I haven't ever tried printing ABS, but others have reported good results with hairspray. I mostly print in enhance PLA (PLA Plus, Pro PLA, etc.) and occasionally with PETG.
