Re: Black ePC - disappointing first print

FWIW I take the temperature ranges as a starting point, but often find I get much better part strength outside their suggested window. These days I print a vase-mode calibration cube and flex the sidewall to see how the layers are bonding. If a part splits with little or no effort or will pull apart...

Re: Black ePC - disappointing first print

I actually haven't run the material again since this original post. I have found, however, that eSun's black PETG gets very brittle when run at higher temps, but is good and tough at lower temps. eSun suggested I run the black ePC at a lower temp, so it might be a similar situation. I am backed up w...

Re: esun epa question

I haven only printed a few test parts with the ePA nylon. A highly-regarded build surface is linen-based phenolic sheet like Garolite LE. I tried PEI and Kapton with no success. I believe glue-stick is used with success with nylon, but I did not test that. The Garolite LE worked very well - almost t...

Re: Filament Drive Tension Slipping?

I printed filament drives from ePC and I've seen just about zero creep, and I run in a 40C-50C heated enclosure.

Re: filler for pla

I control how support breaks away by adjusting overall layer thickness. If support doesn't snap right off, increase your layer height a little. .1mm can make a significant difference. Don't increase it too much or the build on top of your support will get ugly.

Re: nema17 dampers

Scroll to near the bottom of page 7 on this thread . I added washers under the mount to tilt the motor shaft out, so then when tension is applied the shaft returns to perpendicular to the machine. My dampers have not lost tension that I have noticed - or I have removed the motors often enough that I...

Re: TIP - Removing PEI Sheet from substrate

FWIW, I wrote this up on another forum - I should take the time to get some photos or video of the process, but until then: I use 3M 468MP Adhesive Transfer Tape, 12" squares from Amazon to stick my PEI to the build plate. I use an aluminum plate, but the glass should work fine. I use a 3M 71601 Blu...

Re: The GearMaker M2 Kit for Newbie?

My first 3D printer was an M2 which I upgraded to dual extruders. In the end I only messed with shooting both barrels a handful of times. Over time I learned to get good, easy to remove support with a single extruder. The upgrade I valued most on my M2 was getting a RasPi micro computer running Octo...

Re: Printing Makergeeks PETG

My PETG prints got a lot cleaner when I eliminated Z-lift on retraction - and I also avoid movements over open area (don't recall the name of setting option in S3D for that). When calibrating the extruder, I deduct 5% from the nominal calculated multiplier to ensure I'm not over-extruding. Z-Lift cr...
