Tool Change script for S3D

I've designed a dual extruder that has only a single hot-end (inspired by the palette). This eliminates the problem of getting the offset set correctly. However since both filaments go into the same hot end, the tool change g-code needs to retract the old filament to make room for the new filament. ...

Re: Wow, this is a nice damn printer!

Actually all they need is to dump the jam nut, and use a spring to take the slop out. The tension would induce enough friction to prevent it from vibrating out of position, but it would still be easy to change.

Re: Printing Super Slow

Check your slic3r settings for a frequency limit. When I had the slow printing problem it was because I'd somehow set the vibration limit to 4Hz or less.

It would be on the printer settings page.

Max safe temp for V3a?

I'm doing an experiment with ABS and HIPS, and I'm having some problems getting them to adhere to each other. It's been suggested that I try raising the temp to 245 to get better adhesion, but I'm concerned this would melt my groovemount. So what is the maximum safe temperature?

Dual Extruder specs

I was just wondering if the specs on the M2 dual extruder and published anywhere. I'm interested in width, length, thickness. I don't have a dual extruder but I have an idea I'd like to explore and I need to know the physical footprint of the extruder. Also, what size are the motors?

Thanks,
Dave

Re: Printing Super Slow

I had the same problem, and it was a setting in Slic3r.

I'll try to look for the exact setting when I get home tonight.

Re: Maximum Diameter Without Supports

Nophead's polyholes are about horizontal hole dimensions. Ummm... no. If you look at his pictures the holes are clearly vertical. The holes are on a horizontal surface, but the holes themselves are vertical. [edit: I just realized that I may have come off as being snarky ] I think we're just using ...

Re: Maximum Diameter Without Supports

I forgot to mention that there is also a reason to use polygons for vertical holes as well when the exact dimensions are important. Nophead has a really good article on the subject: http://hydraraptor.blogspot.com/2011/02/polyholes.html Dave I've switched to using octagons instead of circles for hor...

Re: Early M2 how to open the electronics case?

Hi Rick, I have not upgraded 24-volt yet. I'm actually just getting back into 3d printing after a long hiatus. If I get some time this weekend, I'll try to snap some photos of the wiring harness. I'll probably be in the market for a dual-extruder if they become available again. Thanks, Dave Wanna c...

Re: Maximum Diameter Without Supports

I've switched to using octagons instead of circles for horizontal holes. The theory is that with an octagon none of the sides will exceed 45 degrees of overhang and then you're left with a single bridge at the top.
