Re: stange Z movement
Try to clean with alcohol and lab With the power off , unplug the motor and turn the leadscrew by hand (well, fingers) to move the platform from top to bottom and back again. I think you'll find some sections, probably in the middle of the travel, will require much more effort than others. Concentr...

Re: M2 Dual extruder. No power to both extruders
The extruder motor works when plugged into Z axis Well, then, it's: one of those mysterious firmware issues a blown driver chip If you ever, even once, connected or disconnected the stepper with the power on, then it's a blown driver. If you had a single-extruder machine, you could tweak the firmwa...

Re: stange Z movement
start to go up suddenly it began to go up and down rvery few seconds It's time to clean & lubricate the guide rods and leadscrew: they're now dirty enough to stall the underpowered Z-axis motor. AFAICT, the right time to clean & lube is when the motor stalls, rather than pretending to do regular ma...

Re: M2 Dual extruder. No power to both extruders
both extruder motors refuse to do anything At the risk of sounding foolish, all the connectors are plugged in, right? [grin] The nightmare scenario: plugging or unplugging a stepper motor with the power on can be a death sentence for the driver chip. With the power off , swap the extruder motors wi...

Re: Questions from a new owner (of old M2)
Welcome aboard! Being a crusty old-timer, I have exceedingly strong opinions not lining up with current wisdom, so fetch your salt shaker and apply as needed. None of this is meant to be discouraging, but I don't do unicorns & rainbows. the single power supply If it's an old-old M2, then check the l...

Re: files
Does it matter what files you use, stl type or others? It depends on which solid model file types your slicer will accept. For example, Slic3r can handle STL, OBJ, AMF, and 3MF, although I've never needed anything other than STL. It's worth mentioning that NGC / GCODE files are not compatible betwe...

Re: Heat Insert Technique?
That's nice work! Instead of a bevel, would a cylindrical recess 0.5 mm larger than the insert and two or three threads deep (0.5 mm, max) suffice? Set the insert into the recess, resting solidly on its bottom, then nail it with the heated tool. I don't do enough inserts at any one time to justify y...

Re: Heat Insert Technique?
use threaded brass inserts for the cover screws Love 'em, but they're definitely finicky. The real problem comes from 3D printing's crappy tolerances: ±0.1 mm in hole diameter is the difference between "fits OK" and "falls out". For low-stress applications, I just ram 'em into place with the drill ...

Re: problem with first layers
bends away from the bed glass The basic problem looks to be geometric: the part has a tall outer wall around a recessed center. All the plastic shrinks as it cools, the rim exerts a tremendous upward force on the base as it tries to contract radially and vertically, and eventually one side of the b...

Re: Z stepper drops during pause
Do you know where to find such parameters? Dunno, because I've avoided LCDs and mid-print tweakage, but I think Marlin runs specific external routines when such events occur. Searching the doc for keywords like "custom G-Code" and maybe even "pause" might be productive; matching the doc to the spec...
