Roadster on the M2 motorway?!

Here's my best print to date by far, enabled by S3D Creator. The design is mine, and I'm quite proud of it. You can find it on Thingiverse as Thing #305925 http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:305925 . Printed in purple, black, and natural PLA, all from MakerGear. Haven't gotten around to painting the d...

Re: Thingiverse curation

You'll find me on Thingiverse as "TimEdwards".
There is room in the universe for more than one thingiverse. . . (multithingiverse theory, or something).

Re: Thar she blows

I was thinking about starting a "friends don't let friends use slic3r" campaign, but I don't want Ketil to feel too isolated. . . I really do support open source solutions. I'm an open source developer, myself (opencircuitdesign.com). But that's for software where the commercial alternatives run in ...

Re: Problems Printing Colored PET+

You're using the V3b extruder, I guess. I was using the earlier version with the ceramic core, and I put the temperature all the way up to 245 to get a decent print with the white PET+. Which would be 265 on the V3b, if you dare to go that high. For the record, I also had the bed temperature up high...

Re: Thar she blows

Hello Ketil, I expect that in the long run, if I took the time to understand every aspect of slic3r and tweak all the parameters just right, I might be able to get the same quality as S3D Creator just did for me. The difference is that Creator seems to know what's right to use in every situation tha...

Re: Thar she blows

I feel like apologizing to my machine. I just purchased S3D, and now I realize how I've been abusing my M2 by feeding it crap that came out of slic3r. I have been working on designing and printing a model car, and I just fed S3D the part that I thought would be the hardest to print, and it gave me t...

Re: Thar she blows

Pardon my ignorance, because I still use slic3r, but what does it mean that you have extended the supports by 1mm? I keep leaning more and more toward giving up on slic3r and getting S3D. I like to give open source solutions a chance, but I have become so discouraged with slic3r's inability to gener...

Re: Thar she blows

What layer height did you use, and how did you generate support?

Re: Upgrades and Updates

I also have a late 2012 model, and I'm surprised that you just hit your first hardware failure! Although yours sounded a bit more traumatic than my several failures, all of which were fixed with glue or solder followed by a quick return to printing. MakerGear produces teasers about the V4 from time ...
