Re: Photo beads with OpenSCAD
It looks like this is done with the "customizer" on thingiverse? How does that work? I think it uses OpenSCAD? This sounds awfully slow. . . I could probably write a bit of C code or Tcl/Tk code that would turn an image into an STL file in half a second or less. It sounds like a bunch of scripts or ...

Re: The M2 24V upgrade
Well, that's one data point, anyway. Thanks. "Crazy loud" might be a problem, though, since my M2 is only about 4 feet away from where I work at the computer. I already have problems with the crazy loud fans in my HP/Agilent power supplies, but I don't use those too often.

Re: The M2 24V upgrade
Yes, I've seen that thread---you'll note that I made a couple of posts to it. That thread was where most of these questions originated, but few of them got answered. So it sounds like MakerGear is still shipping the 12V 40mm fans in series. The (slight) problem with that is that if I convert to the ...

There seems to be something wrong with the "Search..." setup. I typed in a normal-seeming set of search words ("24V fan") and got back a message about "too common words" and no results. "Too common words" should be reserved for things like "the" and "and", etc., that occur thousands of times and hav...

Re: The M2 24V upgrade
Hello out there? Am I all alone? Nobody else upgrading? No support? No instructions? No 24V fans?

Re: Filament drive melting!
I'm still using a cracked filament drive that I patched up with 2-part epoxy and put back into service. I thought it would bite the dust sooner rather than later, but it's still going strong three or four months after the fact.

The M2 24V upgrade
At some point I decided to wait on the 24V upgrade until the dust settled down. However, in the end, some of the discussions about the upgrade were left hanging, with some of the questions unanswered. The good news is that the upgrade page still shows the upgrade selling for the same price, although...

Re: Printing with Flexible Filament
Jim---when you say "I do fine with ecoflex", do you mean that it is relatively straightforward to print with, or is it still tricky to get the settings right? Last I heard, people were slowing the prints *waaaaay* down to keep the filament feeding properly. Do you have a stable .fff file for the eco...

Re: Shutting Down?
I've done it all different ways. The best way I've seen is to add a gcode trailer to every print in which the machine runs the fan for a short while (cooldown period), then shuts everything off. This helps if you're not necessarily going to be somewhere close to the printer when it finishes the prin...

Re: new exotic filaments from push plastic
HIPS and conductive filament will have to wait for the dual extruder. Hybrid Nylon/ABS could be good if it really combines the best of both as they claim. Combining the worst of both would be a disaster. I'm still waiting on the Polymakr Kickstarter. They got their funding (about twice over), and se...
