Re: After Clearing Extruder Jam, Motors Not Responding

Thanks folks. The power supply cord was the clue. I had moved the M2 slightly, and this pulled the cord from the power supply tight around the base of the printer. Don't know if tension on the connector dropped the voltage on one of the lines, or the contact of the cord with the printer caused some ...

Re: SketchUp - How to make cylinder bottom print smooth

No one mentioned using the previewer in S3D. I now always do a quickly slide up and down to look for any surprises in my print. In some cases, I'm looking for the best orientation of the part to be printed. I generate gcode, look at the combination of supports and skirts, and decide, nope, that way ...

After Clearing Extruder Jam, Motors Not Responding

I had an extruder jam, and I followed the instructions on clearing the extruder. Re-attached the extruder, and none of the motorized jog control sub-systems are working. Jog X home doesn't work. Same for Y, & Z. And the extruder motor itself is not responding to controls, so I can't reload filament....

Re: How To: Take Apart the V4 Hot End for Cold Cleaning

Thanks insta.

My eyesight isn't what it once was. I saw the holes, but now I know what's in them. And no worries, no yanking.

Re: How To: Take Apart the V4 Hot End for Cold Cleaning

Think my V4 hot-end was fried anyway, but I got to the step "Remove the black cloth cover. Take the removable thermistor out of the hot-end and set it aside." Well, I lightly tugged on each set of wires, and nothing moved. First off, not sure which set of wires are attached to the thermistor, but un...

Re: computer crashes

BTW, I made the mistake of googling the problem of crashing MacBook Pros, and found out that my mid 2010 MBP has a hardware problem in the graphics processor. The MBP switches the graphics acceleration on and off in order to save power, and the system crashes trying to switch graphics subsystems. Th...

Re: Printing lighter color PLA

I am yet to switch to the zebra plate, but thought I'd pass along what I have learned. I printed some parts with MakerGear's Black PLA with a build plate contact/footprint linear dimensions less than 1/3 of the BP's width/length. Extruder temp 205C, BP 60C, speed 3500 mm/min, infill 60%. With no war...

Re: Printing lighter color PLA

Thanks for the advice. One posting recommended the Zebra plate, which I've ordered. I'll look into the PEI plate. I've tried the 50-60C and 50% infill, and no change in the warping. In the last hour, I saw a description that describes the behavior perfectly, the outer layers are like a thousand tiny...

Re: Printing lighter color PLA

I realize this thread is a year old, but in case anyone is listening, I am tearing my hair out trying to print some larger objects with Hatchbox silver. It is warping (nay curling) on the outer edges (like crazy, like a full CM at the rim of an print that 85% the width of the build plate). I have tr...
