Re: Extruder Acceleration - Holy Crap!
What model is that? I'm working on installing the latest Marlin RC on my RevE to see how the new LIN_ADVANCE affects things, and comparing stock settings to your extruder accel to LIN_ADVANCE.

Re: How to make my first 3D printer experience a smooth one!
You'll run through the free spool learning. Get at least one more. Long term storage of lots of spools of filament can be a problem, because a lot of them are hydrophyllic. (You have to keep the humidity and damp away from them or it ruins the plastic and makes it brittle over time.) You can pretty...

Re: Cylinders aren't round
My glass is (was) sliding around as well. I just noticed it when watching some support material be printed. I shimmed the front right clip with some silver anti-static material, but I suspect some either some printed shims or cut silicone rubber shims will be a better fix. I'm pretty sure these adj...

Re: My Ghetto Enclosure
My next suggestion was going to be a food dehydrator. That one is fixed at 160F/71C, but there's others that have analog or digital regulation built in. And again, designed out of the box to run forever.

Re: My Ghetto Enclosure
You're going to laugh, but I don't care. What about slapping a Countertop Convection Cooker on the side of your enclosure? On the one hand, you'll have to hot-wire the electronics since the lowest that unit goes is 120C and the timer only goes to 60 minutes. On the other hand, it's designed to run a...

Re: Joints stuck together during prints
You might try the "horizontal size compensation" on the Other tab in S3D. A negative number will shrink knobs and expand holes by that amount. If you have a hole that's printing at 4.9mm, -0.05mm will result in a 5mm hole because it's an offset, so it's 0.05mm on the radius. It won't help for any ve...

Re: stl files
Jules misheard you and thought you were talking about .gcode files. STL files are the 3D model of what you want to print. You need a separate program to turn this into information the printer can use to build the object. That's called a slicer program. Download and look over this Beginner's Guide . ...

Re: stopped printing
Can you post your FFF profile or a factory file? Go to File, then Export FFF, then zip up the file and post it here. You might have accidentally fudged something in your S3D setup.

Re: How do *you* print a filament drive?
I couldn't believe slic3r was overkilling support like that, so I downloaded Prusa's just to see. Sure enough, with overhang threshold at 0, there's way too much support, including inside the filament path. However, I set the overhang threshold to 1, and everything was nice. Support just for the bea...

Re: Initial Z Height
Another option is to go to the G-CODE tab in S3d and enter a small negative offset on the z Axis. I do this. As long as you're consistent about how you level the bed and set your initial Z height, you can use this method to adjust for any difference between the height you set with the feeler and th...
