Re: Stiffening The Long Horizontal Gantry

Hey jimc, Would you mind throwing together a small guide on how to properly shim the x rail? I could guess at how to do it, but would likely mess it up, having supporting resources would be great. some info that would be helpful could be: Links to any purchases necessary (tools and consumables) Step...

Re: Slow x Gantry "grinding" noise

After this post ran dry I opened a support ticket with MG. I was able to get in contact with them once a day due to work holding me up. After a month of support, we replaced the X rail and carriage pair and that solved the problem. unsuccessful troubleshooting involved: -piecemeal disassembly to fin...

Re: V4 .5mm and .75 mm nozzles

Using smart print profiles tends to be the biggest speed factor. If I need a print fast I would use the following settings. .35mm nozzle .3mm layer height .6mm layer width single shell/perimeter 0-35% Rectilinear infill (Optimized for the part) How about for a .5mm nozzle? Or a .5mm nozzle with PET...

Re: Print stops (incomplete) after 20+ hrs...need help

open up the GCode that is on the SD which failed after 20 hours. Scroll allllll the way to the bottom. Does it have your end script there? does it just end abruptly. You may have transferred the file to SD before S3D had a chance to write the entire GCode, and given that this is a 24 hour print, tha...

Re: Getting round holes on support

Are you printing from the inside out? If the threads don't have enough to grab onto, they tend to make that pattern of the shortest path.

Re: Extruder/Filament alignment

The fitment between each PTFE tube should be the same, but maybe not. I had an issue with alignment once so I removed the PTFE tube from the brass tube as well as the filament drive. I put them together and looked down the pathway that the filament travels. It should be a perfect alignment. if not, ...

Re: UPS Power

A pretty light weight UPS can supply a Printer. At full load a printer draws 300W and while printing, around 100W. UPS's are only good for about 10 minutes total so consider that if the power goes out for more than a few seconds to minutes, the print will be lost. But if you have frequent brown-outs...
