Re: M2 stops extruding after an hour or two

I got a cheap food dehydrator to dry my filament back before purpose built ones were available. You can get nice ones for ~ $40 to $45 now, with is less than the dehydrator cost me. I've never had moist filament cause jams, but I've got some pretty ratty looking prints from it. It only takes ~ 4 hou...

Re: Any Setup Required to Use Pronterface?

I now have Pronterface up & running, and talking to my printer. I've set the build volume to match the M2E, and I've tweaked the feed rates to the ones I use in S3D. I've verified that all the XY&Z commands move in the right direction. That's about all I need for my immediate purposes. However, I'd ...

Any Setup Required to Use Pronterface?

I want to start using Pronterface to control my printer for things like filaments changes. I've given up on Simplify3D being a viable option in the long run. Are there are printer specific configuration settings I need to be aware of to use Pronterface with my M2E? I thing MakerGear supplied Pronter...

Re: M2 Z-limit switch bracket broke

Hope that all works well for you. There's something odd going on. I bought my M2E is July of 2017. The 3D file for the printed bracket on GitHub is from a little over a year earlier. I finally got around to taking a look at my printer. It has a simple machined metal bracket holding the Z-axis limit ...

Re: M2 Z-limit switch bracket broke

Once you get up & running again, I'd definitely print up one of the Z-axis crank/stop gadgets for similar occasions in the future. I use mine periodically to help clean the Z-axis lead screw.

Re: M2 Z-limit switch bracket broke

Thanks for the info on the model you have. I''ll have to print a spare. You can use the top octagonal knob to raise the bed, but it's pretty tedious. There are crank handles that slip over the knob on Thingiverse, but it would require having a working printer... Maybe you can find someone who can ma...

Re: M2 Z-limit switch bracket broke

I'd be curious to know which version of M2 you have. This is the first I've head of this failure mode, but if your printer uses the same Z-stop mount as my M2E, I think I will print a spare.

Thanks!

PETG is also UV resistant. I've used PETG for some fence brackets, and they've held up just fine.

Re: MakerGear Forum Shutting Down

I think there are several reasons for the low forum traffic: 1) The printers work very well. Many concerns have been addressed by revision upgrades & improvements. 2) A lot of the basic questions have been answered here. 3) The market for these machines is not primarily for newbies. Neophytes are of...
