Re: Garnier Fructis Extra Hold Hairspray Discontinued!
According to the hairspray review, you want one that contains "copolymer constituents such as PVA, vinyl, or acetate,". Given that PVA is polyvinyl acetate, which is a copolymer, I'm not sure how broad that statement really is... I think the big differences (besides price) are the concentration of P...

Re: Garnier Fructis Extra Hold Hairspray Discontinued!
Thanks! That's two votes for Suave Extreme Hold. I like the idea of the pump spray. I dug around a bit & found this: https://stampomatica.com/best-hairspray-for-3d-printing/ Their "top pick" is a super cheap L'Oreal product, but apparently it's scented, which I'm not wild about. Suave comes in a bit...

Garnier Fructis Extra Hold Hairspray Discontinued!
I'm not sure this is the best sub-forum for this, but it's where I learned about it 5 years ago. Several people recommended Garnier Fructis Style Sheer Set Extreme Hold Breathable Hairspray, and I've been using it quite successfully. My prints stick well, and pop right off once the bed is cool. My c...

Re: make shrink-on sleeve
That camera sounds like one I used for my class project. Film just can't be moved super fast before it tears & disintegrates, so the solution was to hold the film in a fixed arc, and move the image with the rotating mirror. You still needed a fast "shutter", which was taken care of by using a strobe...

Re: make shrink-on sleeve
Through working with Cousteau on underwater cameras, Doc got heavily involved in the development & use of side-scan sonar, which would have been the tool of choice for such a search. He also had a long history of working with the US military & nuclear stuff from WWII. The walls of his office had at ...

Re: make shrink-on sleeve
I hadn't heard of OnShape. It must be very special, considering the price. If I ever lose my free education Fusion360 license, I can switch to a free "experimenter" license. The one thing that concerns me about Fusion is the whole cloud thing. I really need to go through all my designs & at least sa...

Re: make shrink-on sleeve
Nice switch caps! How do you do the lettering, dual filaments? I'm surprised the silencers don't melt, unless you have access to a sintered metal printer or some such. I've printed lots of stuff with inset lettering, but coloring them is pretty tedious. If you don't seal the print with something lik...

Re: make shrink-on sleeve
Gwhite, that's very nice. Is the aluminum grip ?? just beneath and in front of the gage part of the original gage "assembly" or from some other device? The complicated silver piece clamped into the fixture is the pistol bolt. The tube sticking out on the left end of the bolt is a guide tube that ho...

Re: make shrink-on sleeve
If I can buy it, I usually will, although sometimes poor quality pushes me into making my own. I've got a huge list of things that are one-of-a-kind, or are no longer made to keep me busy. As an example, I just finished making a fixture to measure the recoil spring force in the bolts for Benelli .22...

Re: make shrink-on sleeve
I don't make stuff commercially, but I'm the gunsmith for a college pistol team. I'm constantly building stuff for the team, as well as fixtures or parts to help repair pistols. I also have plenty of my own projects, mostly accessories for my shop & printer. My wife no longer complains about the mon...
