Easy for you and Jules to say. . . you're costing me $170.

I think the fame and glory go to the ones who designed the board and the path planning algorithms. But you're right; my reputation as a hardware/software hacker is at stake. . .[/quote]

I'm sure you have looked into the Smoothie of course we all have its a new toy :) but i would have to say its def worth every cent just good luck finding one here in the USA lol
I gave up and just ordered one from Appleseed and it was cheaper than the Smoothies that were out of stock here in the U.S even with shipping through UPS/FedEx..

cant wait to play with it!

I ordered one from the Hackaday store (thanks to PcS for the link). They didn't say anything about not being in stock or lead-times and such. So we'll see. . .

You can get the voltage regulator from Digi-key: http://www.digikey.com, part number 945-1648-5-ND, $2.84 each, in stock.
(edit) If you are powering an LCD controller, they recommend the 1-amp version, which is Digi-key part number 945-2201-ND, $3.62, in stock.

For the smart LCD, I will have to do some more research.

(another edit) You can get the "Full Graphic Smart LCD Controller" from http://www.reprapdiscount.com/best-sales ($69.00, and marked "Available"). This board is listed under "Supported Panels" on http://smoothieware.org/panel/. However, if you go to http://smoothieware.org/smoothiepanel/, you'll find a prototype in progress for a very large and nice looking LCD panel (debut undisclosed, said they would have a Kickstarter campaign when it's ready). Could be overkill. I'm inclined to say that if the Smoothieboard has an ethernet jack and an on-board HTML server, I'm going to access it off the Web. . . but I suppose there's still plenty of reasons to have standalone operation capability.

But what the heck we only live once and I wanna play lol

So I do need some help with something and that is I need a bed heater that's um well 4' x 4'...so is there anyone who custom makes them? Or what could some options be??

Good luck on the bed heater. One that big draws major power and cost big money. Just iff the top if my head that size will draw somewhere between 4000-6000 watts. It will have to run 240vac. Then again the $1k youll prob pay for the heater will be nothing compared to the elec bill..lol
