OK so don't update your firmware

Something with the new Marlin causes more skipping in the X & Y axis. Even with the current set to how the stock MG firmware is delivered, jerk & accel the same (or the lower "community" values of 10/1200 respectively), I get wicked missed steps printing from SD on the newer Marlins, and rock-solid prints on the older ones. Bummer...as I really liked some of the newer features :(

You mean the latest version with all the recent work? I was vaguely considering getting it worked up for M2 again. Did you go through all the configuration stuff and bring over any M2 changes from the stock firmware?

I maintain a local fork of Marlin with the MakerGear customizations around Viki, and my own around the dual extruders, and just rebase it on top of Marlin's latest. I'm not sure what the deal is, other printers of mine have been skipping steps with the newer Marlin as well vs. their stock firmware.

Thermal runaway protection, auto-fan on the hotend and controller (not the print fan, that's separate), dual-extrusion options in the Viki menu (to prime the 2nd extruder without a computer), and apparently a "randomly ruin Bryan's prints" section.

Sweet, that means I will never have to do it again. If it's on github, please give us a pointer, you've never mentioned this to my recollection. And let us know when it's working :-)
