Ever since I installed dampers, I have been getting more belt skips, 2 today had me pretty mad. Seems the dampers allow the motors to torque a few degrees into the belts, not guarenteeing a great grip on the belts. I can't seem to get them tight enough, particularly the x axis.

I have my travels set to 250mm/s and the Acceleration set to 800.

any advice?

You might want to examine the dampener to make sure it is not cracked in the rubber.
Or no longer bonded to the steel parts.

Two words: mechanical resonance

The rule of thumb for fixing that involves avoiding that particular speed, which is easy enough for 3D printers that never move at the same speed in the same direction for very long. Set the homing speed to another value and the problem will Go Away.

And it doesn't affect print quality, because the resonance takes longer to build up than typical printing moves will allow.
If I'm ever having a day thats a little too good, I'm gonna PM Ed to let him deflate my enthusiasm. ;)

They do allow a bit of flex, but it sounds like you got a bum one :(

Suffice it to say I've made mistakes so vast that none survive to tell the tale... [sigh]

I'll second that... i think you have a bad one.

i was a bit paranoid about them and abused them when i first got them to see if i would have problems, and simply couldn't get the m2 to mis behave with them even at high acceleration.

Whoa insta - you done good dude! :D

Finally put the dampers on (got tired of waiting for hubs to assist) and while I noticed absolutely no difference in the noise level, (all I could ever hear was the fans anyway - mine was pretty tight), I noticed a BIG difference when printing infill for thin walls. My M2 used to jog all over the place when doing thin wall infill, and now ..... Baby don't dance no more! Running my first print now and it's tight as a drum!

Good call on these things! Very glad I got 'em! :D

Sigh. I was resisting, but with all the raves I find I can no longer. Anyone have an extra pair left over that I can buy off you?
