Hi all,
So I got my M2 dialed in nicely with the V3b extruder, and have been printing happily using S3D for weeks now. I use 215/60 with PLA and 235/90 with ABS.
Now I am having a hard time with the E3Dv6. Using the same print settings and same nozzle (0.35mm) but prints are coming out crap. Lots of stringing. I wonder if the temps are too high now on the E3Dv6 compared with the V3b?
I must be a sucker for punishment
Your 2 cents appreciated.

E3Dv6 Temps in Simplify3D
Re: E3Dv6 Temps in Simplify3D
I'm hoping jimc will respond, because he has one and I don't. But I seem to recall that the E3D comes with a thermistor with a different resistance curve than the ones that come with the M2. Requires a tweak to the firmware. Check the E3D online pages, and page two of this thread: viewtopic.php?f=10&t=346 ... that thread has about 17 pages of helpful stuff -- everything the guys here have been through with the E3Dv6. Hope it helps! (Sorry if I didn't...)

Re: E3Dv6 Temps in Simplify3D
That's correct, you gotta change the thermistor to #5 and reflash the firmware on the M2.
... not sure why the E3D guys didn't use the same thermistor as EVERY OTHER HOTEND EVER but hey whatever

Re: E3Dv6 Temps in Simplify3D
Yeah, I modded the firmware accordingly when I installed it. But really need to know the E3D temps and how they compare with the V3b.
Re: E3Dv6 Temps in Simplify3D
I dont think i recall much of any temp difference when i switched over. I do remember that all my retraction and ooze control setting were cut about in half. Are you sure you have a .35 nozzle? Thise are hard to find and not a standard size. Three dots on the hex flats of the nozzle is .4mm. I would double check that. The standard nozzle is .4mm. The temps i run at are 245-255 for abs. 220 pla. 255 petg.
Re: E3Dv6 Temps in Simplify3D
Thanks for the info jimc. Yes its definitely a .35mm. I swapped out the standard .4mm with .35mm from a "nozzle funpack" I bought at the same time as the E3Dv6. Interesting you say about the retraction and ooze control settings. That could be whats causing my stringing?
Appreciate the info. Thanks very much
