Viki 2.0 gives you small pox :(
Re: Viki 2.0 gives you small pox :(
YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY! Thank you Josh !!!!! I have a working Viki 2.
I will play with the firmware and see how it goes, and will report back with any findings. My M2 is not a prod machine, so any problems is no big deal.
By the way, you dont need LiquidTWI2 to compile for the Viki2.0, only u8glib.

Re: Viki 2.0 gives you small pox :(
I wasn't sure what kind of units LCD_UPDATE_INTERVAL was in ? I mean a 100 what? 100Hz, 100ms, 100 seconds, what?
But looking at the code it looks like its 100 milliseconds by default. So the LCD is refreshed at 10Hz. So I will bump up that figure to 500 or 1000 and see what happens.
By the way, is it just me or cant I kind a simple Extrude/Retract function in the LCD menu?????

I compiled the Viki2.0 firmware as per Josh's instructions, using Arduino 1.6.5. But it looks like the dreaded XY shifting issue is back
Re: Viki 2.0 gives you small pox :(
You can try out the workaround for the stepper timing issue if you like.
Find Marlin/Marlin/stepper.cpp. Find "ISR(TIMER1_COMPA_vect)", around line 315. Scroll down until you see it end, around line 760. Make it look like this:
If it looks significantly different from that, you will need to figure out how to insert those lines yourself, but I believe the Viki 2.0 firmware should be very close in version to mine.
Find Marlin/Marlin/stepper.cpp. Find "ISR(TIMER1_COMPA_vect)", around line 315. Scroll down until you see it end, around line 760. Make it look like this:
Code: Select all
// If current block is finished, reset pointer
if (step_events_completed >= current_block->step_event_count) {
current_block = NULL;
plan_discard_current_block();
}
if (TCNT1 >= OCR1A)
TCNT1 = OCR1A - 175;
}
}
#ifdef ADVANCE
Re: Viki 2.0 gives you small pox :(
Thanks jsc,
I have put the code in (it was identical) and adjusted the LCD_UPDATE_INTERVAL from 100 to 300. Running a test print now and will report back on how it goes.

Re: Viki 2.0 gives you small pox :(
GREAT NEWS!
This might mean that I can change my old one for the Viki2 in the near future!? =)
First off, time to install that auto bed leveller trammer ... thingie.

Print came out well. But I will keep testing as this wasn't a particularly difficult print. Just a standalone case for the Viki 2.0

Hi All
Can you post pics of the wiring of the viki2 to the Rambo/MG controller.
Thanks
Mark

Re: Viki 2.0 gives you small pox :(
Hi Again,
I got the wiring from viki2 wiring doc. Now when I load the firmware the blue circle light around the knob comes on fine but the lcd light is on dim with no writing. what other settings in the config or pins will address this?
Thanks

Hi Progwhiz,
Which firmware are you running? The firmware on the Panucatt site gave me a blank screen.
This firmware is the one that works... from the M2 wiki .... http://makergear.wikidot.com/local--fil ... ki2-M2.zip Read the comments on the top of Marlin.ino if I remember right.
Also double check your wiring and make sure you didnt mess up the additional grey and black wires, with markings.
