Mach wrote:I recently changed out the extruder and electronics fan for the 40mm Noctua. I bought the Noctua 60 as well but thought cracking the internal case on the power supply more than I wanted to tear into.
I did replace the the 50mm bed fan with a 15x50 24V blower instead of the 50mm fan. So far I'm happy with the noise level and performance. I did so based on this Reddit thread https://www.reddit.com/r/3Dprinting/com ... ud_fan_vs/. I'm still testing and need to make a duct for it but so far so good.
the blower i see there in that thread is 12V make sure urs is 24V
A 50mm Blower fan.
I bought this one: http://uk.farnell.com/sunon/gb1205phv1- ... dp/1568490
50mm x 50mm x 15mm
12V
the other one they link is

as well 12V

In a previous fan thread, someone pointed out to me that blower fans actually throw out air centrifugally, in the same plane as the rotation of the blades. So you will need to work out some mount for it, it is not a simple replacement part. They are also best for high static pressure/low CFM, so would work better with some sort of fan duct.

Found this, only 11 dB but also only 2.9cfm airflow.

For all the trouble finding the the correct voltage quiet bed fan, couldn't a voltage divider be used? I just wired one for my leveling probe and it works fine for dropping 12v to 5v.

If you start with a 24v input and add two 10k resistors and you halve the output to 12v.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Voltage_divider

I am not an electro-guru so may be missing something in this simple solution.

That only works if there is no other load in the circuit, like a fan.
