My dual extruder fan mod - cool or lame?

I hate fan noise.
I made a duct to mount an 80mm bed fan on my single - so when I went to the dual I wanted to try the same thing. Needed to add in the ducted filament drive cooling on this one though. Here's how it ended up. I still need to wire up the 40mm fans to a single connector.

Don't know why the thumbnail on this image shows upside down. if you click on the image you will see it in properly.

I have dual 40mm fans in place of the 50mm for the filament drives. Those feed into a common plenum and the attachment geometry is stolen from the Makergear part.

For the bed fan I'm using the same 80mm I had on my single, but the duct exit is wide enough to cover both nozzles. I'm please with how this turned out. The 80mm fan blows quite nicely through the duct and there doesn't seem to be too much area reduction for the fan. The dual 40mm fans wired in parallel are slightly quieter than the 50. I might add a resistor to slow them down just a bit.

I'm trying to decide of this is just stupid, massive & over the top, or if it's worthwhile. By comparison, here's Jules' simple solution to unbalanced cooling on the dual.
http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1163035 The printed part is quite lightweight. The ducts are just .75mm wall. This is printed in ABS. The three fans, however, add a little bit of weight.

Thoughts & opinions?

Dayum.

It looks like overkill. It looks amazing!

could you produce a similar mod for a single extruder? I particularly like your integrated grid to make laminar airflow, probably not needed for 3D printing but still cool!

Thanks. Here's my single-extruder design
https://grabcad.com/library/makergear-m ... and-duct-1
The honeycomb flow straightener keeps the air directed where you want it. Without that on the single the airflow was biased way to one side of the duct. It also adds a lot of strength to the open end of the thin-wall duct. I super-glue the orange and black bits together.

Old Thread but wanted to share this with you. Had trouble with that nose (duct between the motors) breaking and trouble getting that screw in on the right. So I made some mods to the shroud. Also added lights.
