It's about time to upgrade my 1st gen M2's 19v (two Dell laptop bricks) to the new standard 24v, but Makergear 24v PSU upgrade kit price is out of my budget. So I'm looking for alternative options. Any suggestions on which third party PSU is good for M2? this one looks very promising http://amzn.to/2pDDMrH. Thanks.

BTW, why is Makergear's 24v PSU upgrade so expensive? Is it UL & CE certified?

The MG supply is from known manufacturer MeanWell. I wouldn't trust an 'EyeBoot' supply to hold tight regulation under load or not have a lot of ripple / noise on the output.

Thanks insta! My M2 bed takes almost 30 minutes to reach 110c, I don't want to slow it even more. It looks like this is what the current Makergear PSU is using, http://amzn.to/2pIy33Y 24v 18.8A.

The purpose of running M2 at 24v is so the bed heats up faster and hotend can operate at higher temperature for new materials, right? My purpose of upgrading to 24v is to prevent melting power connector. In 3.5 years of owning M2, I've used less than 3kg filament. Personally, upgrading to 24v is not worth the time if it doesn't prevent toasting of RAMBo as 19v tends to do.

Remember that you must use a 24 V bed heater: you cannot run an old 12 V heater from a 24 V supply.

My early 2013 vintage M2 had two power supplies: 12 V for the bed heater and 19 V for the electronics. Double-check the bed power supply before you proceed.

That looks like a big MOSFET buffer transistor. I used a DC-DC solid state relay with a 40 V power supply for the hotrod platform on my M2:

If anybody is curious, I actually bought one of those knockoff 24v supplies (the Eyeboot 350W one).

It will run a printer, heat the bed to 100C, holds 24v well enough, and makes a very worrying ticking noise while it's in operation (which is not the fan). I'm using it as a benchtop supply for when printers are getting refurbished / tuned out of the rack, so I'll always be around to watch it.
