so whats the deal with your retraction settings? you dont have any retraction listed, no coasting and i would assume what you have listed as distance is the z lift?

I doubt it was heat. Switching.profiles around a lot can do that if you use other people's. They sometimes add custom gcode at the beginning . :D

No sorry, I apparently hit the Enter key once too many times in there:

The Retraction Distance is 0.2 mm.
No coasting, so I didn't include it.
No Z-lift, so I didn't include that one either.

ok .2 on the retraction seems extremely low. thats pretty much not even doing anything. if its workin for you then roll with it but if i was going to take a guess i would be starting around 1.2mm. i know my e3d i need around 1mm and the v3b had always required even more because of the longer hot zone. z-lift will have nothing to do with your ooze controls but its always a good idea to have that at .2mm. better safe than sorry there. as for coasting, i keep that as low as possible. you prob wont need much if any with this filament. mine is currently at .4mm.

Well, i was getting some slight globbing, so I'll definitely increase that retraction distance a bit. Also the 130% infill width was working a whole lot better on the second print....there were no globs forming at all until it just stopped dead on me.

What it apparently did, (i could see it after i pried the print off of the nozzle), was let out a huge over-extrusion in that one spot and apparently just got stuck in it. Hope I didn't break anything.

As for glob - no idea why it happened. It was zipping along just fine until I left the room to fix dinner. Came back in to check on it and it was quite stuck.

I'll check it over, make sure everything still works and give it another try. (i do need to kind of hurry to beat the thunderstorms due in tonight.)

(Update: Whew! It's still working....tough little machine. :) )

Update again: Okay I've updated the settings I posted - i did increase the retraction to 1.2mm, and it works a lot better. Zero coasting though - it was thinning/flattening the thread so much that it disappeared in a couple of places. And the fan wasn't cutting on at all at 60%, no matter how many hoops I jumped through - guess the thing is either on or off.

So thanks again for all the excellent help gentlemen! :D

I had the fans not turn on once. I bumped the blades with a screwdriver and it took off. Same for the electronics fan. That's when I replaced them both and they have been fine since. Although I usually run 100% on the cooling fan.

Oh it runs just fine at 100%. But it cuts out completely at anything less than 100.....guess it's maybe the way the fan or the code works. (I've always run it on full for PLA, so i never noticed it doing this before. It's probably always been that way.)

Quote from a different thread -
Normally petg support of anykind remove kind of hard because its so sticky and layer bonds like crazy
So far, all of my printing is with ABS. I was thinking of switching to PETG, but this could be a show stopper. I'm going to try some PETG when Will gets the black/white back in stock, but in the mean time "wisdom of the forum" would be appreciated in regards to removing PETG support material.

Thanks....
Larry

Never had a problem removing support with the prints I have done. In fact my general experience is that its harder to get PET to bond to itself - hence the higher print temps Ive had to use and the 0 fan .
