Re: esun petg
Clear filament as you can see is very difficult to use to tune and get good settings with. Its almost impossible to see what is going on.You really shouldnt need to do that much cleanup. It should print alot cleaner than that. You really shouldnt need a raft either. Post up your fff file so i can see where your at.
Re: esun petg
Not PETG but fire resistant filament from eSun....
Flame resistant plastic ... we are living in the future.

Re: esun petg
Where does S3D keep the FFF files these days? I searched my drive for .FFF and also by the profile name, but only came up with profiles I backed up from older versions.
I agree - it should be a bit cleaner at least. I have retraction turned way down from what Jules posted (.12mm @ 2400mm/m); with the full amount I was getting odd looking spots in the outlines where the start/stop points are. I was worried a bit that it could be a structural issue, so I'm worrying primarily about the quality of what's under the blobs vs. trying to prevent them (in this stage at least) as I tend to make a lot of little clips and hangers and stuff..and I think I may try to spin that rotor up and see what happens at speed (with safety precautions of course). Maybe I can pioneer the 3D printed leaf blower?
As for the raft..well, the large piece there was almost the full 8" diameter that could fit, I didn't want to risk damaging an almost-new build sheet trying to chisel that monster off. It just popped off the raft and then the raft is flexible enough that it peels off in a piece or two once you get an edge up..low strain on the parts, machine and operator, with a tradeoff of added print time and some material. However I don't think it's really necessary for small parts, and I am not having good luck with fine features on the first layer with it either for instance (eg, smaller thru holes are a bit rough the first few layers due to light adhesion to the raft surface, but I still have room to close that gap up a bit and try for improvement). Just exploring things with the first roll, really.

Re: esun petg
s3d keeps the profiles where ever you export them. you cant pull them out of the software. if you want to save the profiles then you need to export.
Re: esun petg
Ahh, the export option is gone from the machine control panel (probably obvious but it's under File now). Except I am not allowed to upload an fff file. So, here's text from notepad...?

Re: esun petg
damn no wonder you got stringing. you dont have any ooze control happening at all. that amt your retracting is non existent. to retract that amount is just a waste of time really since its doing nothing. here, i took your fff. made some tweaks. try it out and see.
Re: esun petg
Wait, wait......No, no, no.....ROFL! I posted 1.2 mm for retraction, not .12mm. (Off by only a factor of ten there.......)
(I need to read a little more closely - totally missed that in your earlier post.)
(I need to read a little more closely - totally missed that in your earlier post.)
Re: esun petg
yeah and there were a couple other setting that were a little screwy as well. only retract over open spaces for one so most of the time there was no retraction happening at all. that needed to be unchecked and retract while wipe was off. just a few little thing i changed.
