Jules,

Thank you for the help. As you can see the print is much better with no pulling between layers. I have the temp at 242 for all layers now and increased the height of the first layer to 130%.

The filament is from Makergear.

I have been printing with eSun PETG successfully for a while.
Just bought a new build plate and recalibrate, now I ma getting a lot of stringy filament remnants.
Whats the best way to move the first layer away from the nozzle by adding +0.02 mm increments to the Z-Offset in the G-Code section of S3D, until it quits.
How should I do this exactly?

Do I change the settings in S3D, or just jog the controls of the Z-ofset?

thanks

Do you have a Rev. E printer? or are you still using the z-stop bolt style?

For the Rev E printer making adjustments to the Z-Offset in the S3d software does not work. You need to adjust your Starting Height using the Z-Adjust Application here:

If when you say "Whats the best way to move the first layer away from the nozzle by adding +0.02 mm increments to the Z-Offset in the G-Code section of S3D, until it quits. You mean change the z-height of the first layer...

From the command line in S3D

First Type M501 to read the EEPROM parameters
Look for the M206 line. (it should look something like M206 X0.0 Y0.0 Z4.20)
You can then adjust it using M206 Z[new value] (so add or subtract your .02 to what ever yours was to riase or lower the starting height)
and then M500 to save it to the firmware.

and can you adjust the Z height while printing? or do you need to complete print then adjust then repeat?
thanks

No you can not do it while printing (unless - see below) ... but you only generally need to print the first layer to know whether it is set right or not.

It's not the right way to do it but you can cheat and just manually pop (turn) the z_knob by hand while running if need be but it's really not a fine adjustment doing that way.
