Hatchbox wood filament

Post by MagicEngineer » Wed Oct 28, 2015 5:44 pm

Recently I read a thread on here about the e-sun wood filament and thought I would like to try it. However after checking prices I found that the hatchbox brand was quite a bit less expensive. Since I am on a budget, I decided to give it a try instead. I have to say, that I am not disappointed. It works far better than I anticipated.

This is a box I recently printed. A quick sanding with 100 grit paper in the direction I wanted the grain, and a single coat of Minwax red mahogany stain gave me exactly the look I was wanting. So far everyone who has seen it was surprised to find out that it was printed, and not real wood. This stuff is awesome.

Very nice! You should post the particulars on 'Insta's Filaments that work with the M2" thread. :D

Looks good - get a coat of clear on that and the grain will really pop.

Wow, nice! Like Jules said, I'd be curious what settings you used.

Default S3D PLA with extruder temp bumped up to 220 and 100% infill.
