eSun PLA+ filament

Anyone else give this a try? I didn't have anything come up in the search.

I have just started a roll of the black filament. Seems OK to me so far. I haven't done any real testing to check if it is hugely different from the regular stuff. The odor is equivalent to PLA, which is "mild to not much" in my opinion.

You can use your regular PLA settings, but I bumped my extruder temp first/second layer from 210/205°C to 220/215°C and my bed temp up from 50 to 60°C (blue tape).

It seems to be extruding nicely at 80mm/sec.

Major differences between PLA+ and regular PLA:
Elongation At Break: PLA+ 29% Regular PLA 5%
Izod Impact Strength: PLA+ 7KJ/m2 Regular PLA 4.2KJ/m2

I'll share some of the comments from a pro user who uses 10+ rolls per month:
"Ive actually went through 2 rolls of PLA+ already and I can honestly say that these are the best filament I've ever used ( and I've used pretty much every company )
The layer adhesion is SUPERB and the best I've used, the filament diameter is spot on through out the whole roll, temperature is very forgiving ( Ive tried as low as 180 as high as 230 )
The prints simply dont fail with PLA+."

later on his:
"Black PLA+ is PERFECT for the 10 rolls I've used so far, one new attribute I've noticed is that its more flame resistant than regular PLA.
Perhaps this new recipe of PLA+ has something to do with ePC filament "

Well I can say it has nothing to do with ePC :)
One amazon client said "It seems a lot tougher than normal PLA and prints easier than anything I have tried."
You can try to twist to break this filament. It just won't break :)
I would encourage anyone who can review this stuff. Thanks.

Looking forward to trying it on my next spool! (Just about out of black again.) :D

Does the Black print with a shiny or dull finish?

There is a slight difference in the color. MG PLA is very black, like India ink. The PLA+ is not as intensely black in color.

Shine level is comparable to the MG black PLA, but the MG PLA's deeper color makes the highlights pop more.

The difference I am talking about in color is small and in shine is very slight. I would say it's not enough to worry about.

I just ordered some of the black and some gold.

Will post findings when I have them. I am hoping the added flexibility will allow for more tolerant snaps and locks.

Pet G works good for that but it doesn't bridge well.

I just got my eSun filament (PLA) the other day. So far it is the best I have ever used. Looks like I am a eSun customer for ever. I will not buy any other band and I am not a employee for eSun.

Thanks eSun, great job

I have nearly finished off my first roll. Very pleased with this filament. As noted in my first post, the only changes needed were a 10° bump in the print and bed temps. I was able to peel some bottom layers off my original test print at regular PLA temps, all other prints since raising the temps have been fine.

I have only tried the PLA+ black, but am interested in trying the white PLA+ now. My experience with regular eSun white PLA left a bit to be desired, as the filament was a bit breaky on the roll near the end. I don't think it liked being uncurled from the tight radius at the end of the spool. I have not had this issue with other eSun PLA colors, just the white. Perhaps the PLA+ formulation will perform better.

update- Hah! Just went to order the white and guess what? They don't currently make PLA+ in white! :)

I find that PLA in white pretty much sucks from any manufacture.

I did buy a roll of the PLA+ in Red but haven't had a chance to try it yet.

Only white PLA I've really liked has been SainSmart on the cardboard spools. I've tried four brands. Give it a shot if you want white, it likes low, fast, medium temp layers with full fan.
