Polyurethane?
Polyurethane?
Does anyone have experience printing polyurethane filament and if so how was the result? Any brand / setting recommendations? Thanks!
Re: Polyurethane?
as in flexible type? ninjaflex?
Re: Polyurethane?
Is that the closest I can get to simulate PU? I was thinking SainSmart TPU?
Trying to figure out if I can get close enough to print parts rather than molds for a client project.

Re: Polyurethane?
ninjaflex is tpu. never used the sainsmart but i do print ninjaflex all the time. if you have never printed soft filaments like ninjaflex, it does take some time getting it all figured out. all i can say is print slow.
Re: Polyurethane?
I've used the black & gray Sainsmart TPU and plan on getting other colors. This stuff prints great and dialed in pretty easily. I don't have all the settings handy but the temps are 220 & 60 (or 50?) and speed is about half that of PLA. Sticks to clean glass great and this stuff is very strong. I printed a 5" circle similar to a flat shoelace and could hardly break it by pulling. You can control the "cushiness" with the infill settings and with 100% infill it's about like a shopping cart wheel - at least that's what a shore A hardness of 95 is rated at. I believe it. It's flexible but not stretchy.
Re: Polyurethane?
I just printed Ninjaflex Flamingo, (most dudes call it pink), Sain Smart TPU Green, and MakerFlex Purple. I printed them all with the same settings; the flexibility differences are huge, with the Ninjaflex being the most and the Sain Smart being least. I mean a REALLY HUGE difference! The Sain Smart TPU flexes slightly and did not print particularly well; the MakerFlex is much more flexible, but the Ninjaflex is like soft rubber. I used a 0.50mm nozzle for all.
