This probably a dumb question but here goes.

I accidentally bought a roll of 2.85 diameter filament. Is it useless in the M2?

Yes, you can not use that in the M2.

Not to muddy the waters, but

You can't use it on the M2, ASSUMING you have the stock 0.35 mm nozzle.

If you have been printing with standard 1.75 mm filament, then yes you will not be able to use the 2.85 mm filament without modifying your M2.

Nozzle has nothing to do with it, the 2.85mm filament isn't going to even fit inside the v4 opening on the top, nor will it fit though the filament drive.

Good point, you would also need a new filament drive and hotend.

Guess I did muddy the waters after all.

So in response to the OP...the short answer is yes, that is useless on the stock M2.

gotta watch out when you're shopping.
On amazon usually I put "1.75" in my searches; like: "PLA Gray 1.75" and that will give me the shopping results i'm looking for.
