I owned a CubeX Duo for a while that had dual extruders. The trick seemed to be to make sure each hot end primed itself before each time it engaged the print. They had a rectangular box with a teflon wiper that the extruders would go to and spit out some filament before engaging the print. The Teflon wiper allowed the string to be wiped off similar to how the M2 does before starting a print.

Something they didn't do very well was make it easy to get the extruder tips at the same height. All you need is to mount the hot end in a cylindrical "hole". If you can raise the bed to touch the nozzles while they are loose then tighten both hot ends without affecting their z-offset then its easy and they will be nearly perfect.

Of course, that process throws the z offset off so it would be nice to have an auto z offset referenced to one of the hot ends so its not affected by hot end z position changes. I haven't seen anyone do that yet but I don't know why. Its not very hard to conceive how to do it relatively simply.

That looks extremely compact... I liked the look of the v4 hot end too so it's all win really!

Hopefully I can buy one soon?!! Please?!

Any update as to when this dual extruder (V4) is projected to be available?

Where's the second spool of filament going to be located?

Sorry for the delay in posting here. We will be making the dual-extruder announcement in a matter of days...probably not today as I am still waiting on some info...but very soon. The hot-end is all metal and part of the mount is machined so there may be some sticker shock.

Thank you for your patience,
Rick

Will the main advantage to this being able to use water based filament for supports that can be washed off the models?
