Short Run Plastic Enjection Molding

Post by jcspball13 » Sun Aug 16, 2015 5:33 pm

Got my M2 about 3 weeks ago, and my project is already on track!

My question is this: once I am ready to move to the beginning production stage, does anyone have any experience with getting mold/parts made?

Any suggestions? Any good companies to recommend?

Captain John, who was fairly active on this forum a while back, used his M2 to prototype fishing lures and went all the way to injection molded manufacturing. You might ask him.

Looks like he used a local firm:
Kruger Plastics in Bridgman, MI does the injection work on a price per part basis.

Definately send a pm to capt john. He has had multiple injection molds done over the years and can recommend someone. I did all the modeling for the lures for him. I know that end of it but the injection molding part of it he knows best.

Check out PROTO LABS They have a cool online quote system where you can upload your part to get a quote and it also checks whether it is actually able to be injection molded. (checks drafts and all that fun stuff.) I dealt with them a little bit trying to get a part made and I learned a lot (most my part wasn't capable of being molded they way I had it designed) but the pricing seemed reasonable compared to some other places I have read about. I went a different route in the end but they are worth looking into.
