Man, you guys are crap at talking people out of things....
(That,.....and I've got several thousand cutter files that would translate so easily into laser. )

I'm doomed. :|

Sigh!

For a second, I thought you might be serious because that's largely true of me, lol.

Currently, I have somewhere around 2500 files that could be adapted to laser.

Just don't understand the laser printer's business potential, yet. Looks more "Craftsy" than "useful".

I am serious. I'd guesstimate around 8,000-10,000 files, plus or minus a few hundred. It's kind of hard to tell how many exactly because i keep some of them in multiple formats for the different cutters that we used. Total file count in that folder is 46,721. (Might be closer to 20,000 files, i only kept multiples of my own designs.)

They're not all mine of course - only about 700 of them are mine, and 90% of those were purely for sale, so i wouldn't bother to rework them.

But there are a few that could look downright cool in plywood, if i can modify them for the kerf thing. :P

i guess we both need to order one of these things, don't we? ;)

Software auto adjusts for kerf (feature #9 on their list).

Oooooh, cutters, sounds like you've been having fun with CNC machines/routers. I have a CNC router but it's designed largely for PCB production, though it could be good for wood. I've never used it, lol. (3D printing is taking up too much of my time! lol, I'm not complaining.)

It looks like somewhere around 100-150 people put money on the glowforge. Not nearly impressive a figure as $3,000,000, but it's looking like there's a few people who see opportunity. From my brief research, it seems like it's good for the sign business and small wooden charms / stencil business, lol. (Small market compared to its entry price.)

Order of magnitude error, lol, so more like 1000. That's a bit more impressive but still uncertain the business opportunities present in this particular laser cutter. Signs, stencils and wooden charms.
