From someone who gets quite icky feeling on the special effects rides at Disney, VR is probably not my thing, but it's a fascinating field. :|

I don't game much, but I had some LCD shutter glasses for my PC back in the CRT days. Worked quite well. I remember being stuck in a spot in Tomb Raider. Then I got the glasses and the the addition of depth to the image and I saw exactly where I needed to go - plus the 3D was just a cool addition to first-person games - Combat Flight Sim too.

Add head tracking to that and it will be very cool. Someone dog fighting while wearing a VR headset will probably look like an epileptic seizure in progress.

I started with the gear vr. Phone ones are impressive in that it can run it ...but the resolution was too low for me. The pc versions are higher resolution.

PcS... did you ever get your vive yet? I just built a sick gaming rig and I'm now actually considering going the VR route too and I'm wondering how the Vive is.

Yes I got my vive !!! I will say it was well worth the money !!! And I definitely would buy it again. One word of caution if you do the vive or the occulus. The base stations, satellites, lighthouses are very fragile handle with extreme care. I had one fail and have had to send in for repair. Awaiting their diagnosis now. Luckily some games work fine with just one base station....sadly some don't work at all.
