Re: Going to be gone
Thanks! Wasn't a week, which totally shocks me since the danged thing burned to the ground. Multiple explosions and toxic smoke (which fortunately went the other way), and I am amazed that they got as many folks back up and running (in only about 8 hours) as quickly as they did.
Fire knocked out power to 75,000 homes.
Still about 30,000 without power, but they should get up and running tomorrow.

no generator? i used to lose power here every time the wind blew the wrong way. atleast once every 3-4 weeks. i got a nice big diesel generator. since i got it 3years ago the power hasn't gone out...go figure.
Re: Going to be gone
Yeah, we do have one, and we could not get any gas siphoned out of any of the cars. (Newfangled freaking caps.)
We finally got it running, I had transferred all the food to the emergency freezer, and hubs was about to go drive to the next town to get some more gas (pumps weren't working anywhere near us) and the lights came on for us.
They didn't for our next door neighbors, but they had left to stay with some friends anyway, so no problems.
Quite a day. Reminds me of the hurricane fun, but with a higher excitement 'splodey factor. i actually smelled gas in the downstairs plumbing and spent the afternoon standing outside in some pretty heavy heat waiting for the gas company to come calling. (It was just some toxic smoke from the fire, but i wasn't going to hang around in it - probably a good plan.)

Well, you can figure that anything that significant will show up on the news.

Chuckle! Damn good thing you found the article Tim, 'cause I was not in a clear enough frame of mind to even think about videoing it when it was happening! (I'd have been FAKEYBANNED! which sounds painful!)
I do need to go and do a search for news report videos though - the air was full of choppers. We had no power during the nightly news reports though, so haven't seen anything about it yet.
Well no one died, so news coverage is a bit skimpy....there's one more here:

Re: Going to be gone
We had a whole house NG generator put in after a hurricane left us without power for a week. Haven't had a single outage since. I keep hoping for some kind of power outage just to say we got to use it.
Re: Going to be gone
Thats what happens jin. It is working you just dont know it. If you didnt have it put in you would have power outages all the time
