I printed everything on my printer in petg and it's been holding up awesome. I didn't have any issues with support either.

Very sharp! :D

I'm going to try again with the PETG, as soon as I can be sure that a random power surge is not going to fry things up for me again, and just as soon as i finish some downloading. (Next time I won't let the S3D determine what the proper support levels are.)

But that new black opaque PETG bonds like a son of a b. It literally becomes one with the print, and the stuff simply does not break along the x/y plane. (I did have it at zero layers separation, so I might need to increase that, but those overhangs were bugging me the first time. It did a lot better on the overhangs on the failed print (without support) in a couple of places, so i probably can safely bump that up to 1 or 2 layers.) That also was with no fan, so I might try increasing that too, to keep it from linking up quite so strongly.

The good news is....It's actually easier to cut off the PETG support than with the PLA though, it's a little more flexible and doesn't fly off into your face. (Does not grind well, for the same reason.)

I printed mine in esun PETg, with support -- manual though, just a few here and there (the stuff bridges quite nicely.) I also dropped the size from the default 4 to 3 -- the supports are thinner, but still work fine, and came right out for me perfectly.

And I didn't see it mentioned above, but I suggest the rsilvers models too, vs. the stock ones on the MG site; they're a little sturdier, plus I don't have issues with the filament not feeding into the hot end anymore. :D I mirrored the extruder motor mount before printing, though -- so the wires are on the right side instead of the left. No more rubbing against the filament guide, or jumping with retractions. :ugeek: (I initially started trying to model clips to replace the zip ties, too, but got lazy. Maybe I'll try again later...)

On a tangential note: Printing the motor mount on glass + glue stick resulted in a great print with bits of boro firmly adhered. I now use kapton between the glass and the glue stick/watered elmers/hairspray.... 8-)

Okay, much better success with the second pass on this thing.....I separated the support by a layer at the top, and ran the fan - it helped the support come off a lot easier this time. (It also helped that the print actually finished!) 8-)

Matter of fact, my only complaint was that the actual filament holes were a bit too snug. Fixed that by reaming them out in a couple of spots with a needle tip from those little burr grinders, although they weren't long enough to get all the way in there, they opened it up enough that I could get a piece of filament all the way through, and vigorously running it back and forth widened the hole just enough. It was probably just a saggy thread.

I'll update the settings I posted...you can put me back on the PETG bandwagon! (Zero odor when printing is greatly preferred! :D )

horizontal printed holes on anything are never perfectly round and in spec. do yourself a favor and buy a 2mm drill bit. i change my filament drive every 2-3 mos and whenever i print a new one i will always run a 2mm bit down the bore of the drive. it makes it perfectly round, straight and almost polishes it.

read this thread. it has the part#'s

Yeah, i think that's what i need here - it's still a bit more snug than I like...if i hit a filament that's even a little bit out of spec, I'm afraid I'll jam it.

yes the bore of most hot ends including the v3b is 2mm. i would imagine the v4 is the same. the filament drive should match the hot end and not be tighter or the filament could jam as you said. sometimes it doesnt even have to be a bulge. the dia could just get a little larger then when it get warm in the hot end it will expand a bit and jam. the gear and bearing can also squish it out of round a little making the filament bigger as it enters the bore of the drive. i have had filament that got up to 1.87mm on the spool actually get too tight and jam. in any case a 2mm bit is a cheap bit of insurance and performance enhancement
