Using eSUN PETG
Using eSUN PETG
Hey guys, so I have a couple questions about esun's petg. First is, will the v3b extruder get hot enough to melt it? Second, is it bad like abs to constantly be breathing in? And lastly, if the v3b extruder can get hot enough and it's not bad to breath in, what are some good bed and nozzle temps that you guys use? Thanks.
Re: Using eSUN PETG
Yes, the v3b extruder will work with PETg, although it runs at the top end of its range.
PETg has no smell at all, and as it is a food-safe plastic, I assume that it's safe in general. At least I've never heard otherwise.
(edited---nozzle temperatures are in the 200s, NOT 100s, duh. . .)
I find that PETg loses adhesion to the bed somewhere between 80 and 90 degrees C, so I keep the bed at 90 during printing. Nozzle temperatures vary; I have had jams occur at 235 so I usually keep the nozzle temperature around 245 to 255. 255 may be a bit too high for the v3b, but you should be able to get perfectly good prints at 245 or so.
The bed fan should be on during printing, but may contribute to warping. Warping is usually not a problem until the size of the print gets big enough (maybe half the bed length).

Re: Using eSUN PETG
Okay thanks! I'll get a roll and test it out.
Re: Using eSUN PETG
tim is pretty much right on. he said 155 and im sure he meant 255. i general i am 245-255 with it so its fine for the v3b. no real reason to go higher than that. bed fan i find is optional. i only use the fan when i need it. small detailed parts where heat soak may be an issue. otherwise the fan is off. bed temp i run 80c no matter what. it prints good with that on hairspray so i never had a reason to change.

Duh, I'm sure I did. . .jimc wrote:he said 155 and im sure he meant 255.
Edited it to cover my tracks. . .
