At least for 3DS Max and Fusion 360, I'd recommend checking out the SpaceMouse from 3dconnexion. I have the puck-like SpaceNavigator from the personal series. It is a heavy, high quality piece of gear and makes 3D navigation easy and intuitive. There is a short learning curve. Sadly, it does not work without support in the software, so won't work with OnShape or Simplify3D. http://www.3dconnexion.com/products/spacemouse.html

I don't think the Professional Series is worth it, 99% of the benefit is from the 3D mouse and I don't need a ton of extra buttons. Even the two buttons on mine never get used. There is some driver support for bringing up circular menus, but from what I can tell it is worthless because you have to use your regular mouse to click on them (wut?)
