If this design works, the electronics will be completely outside the heated area. The enclosed area will only ever extend down as far as the bed. Mharter is looking at the design to see if it's feasible this weekend. If he can cut the parts, I'll build one and test it, before making a complete ass out of myself.....It's just an idea I had at this point, very experimental, and no cool electronics modifications - I wouldn't even know where to start with those, and they are waaay out of my comfort zone. If it does work to keep sufficient heat on the build area though, it will be a good "poor man's enclosure", for those who just print the hot stuff occasionally, or who need to switch back and forth easily. Most of what I'll be printing will actually do better without an enclosure, so I need something that I can switch out without fuss.
That's assuming that the materials that I've ordered work out the way I hope they will....we'll see. Might be a complete bust - first passes generally are. (Gonna try to not get my hopes up too much.
