Best way to cut up larger object to print.

My son wants me to print this but it is bigger than the M2 can print in one print.

What is the best way to go about chopping it up to print?
I flipped it upside down but the top is still too big.

I always use my cad software. I just make a plane, put it where i want then split the model. Save them as 2 separate stls, print and glue them together.

In Simplify3D, center it on the bed, then take a note of the z offset coordinate and the object height. Subtract half the object height from the z offset. That will get you the top half. To get the bottom half, rotate it upside down and do the same again. Always recalculate, because rotation may have moved things around.
I would print the helmet with the seam vertically, going down through the nose piece, so rotate the object around the Y axis by 90 degrees first.

Thanks for the info.
I have not use cad software just yet. So I downloaded the free copy of netfab. I was able to cut it in half in no time at all with this software.
Bottom is printed. Now for the top it is a 20 hour print will be my longest print so far.

Here is the end results. I still need to paint it.
my son loves it. This is 11 1/2" by 7 3/4" Pretty big for 3D printer.

Your son is going to be the envy of every other kid in the neighborhood! This is way cooler than my dad teaching me to build Heathkit stuff before I hit my teens. (My dad's method surely set me up as a future Maker at an early age. I suspect your son will get there, just by a different route -- one that will make other kids drool with jealousy!)

We already printed a halo gun maybe he can use that. (This is X men but they like that movie also)
This printer has been really good for my boys. 10-11 they down load things form thingiverse they add support and manually remove it where it should not be. They set the infill and the temps they do it all. I usually am there to watch the first layer and I set Z stop and the bed for now anyway. They have printed stuff for school and their Mother’s day gift.
