Oh yes, how did I forget to mention DropBox. I second sprior's recommendations. If you're going to be using a RaspberryPi, set it up with OctoPrint.

Haven't done it yet, but my next task is to hook up a relay to control the power to the printer via OctoPrint. The relay board costs $10, so as long as you don't kill yourself doing high voltage wiring it's a pretty cheap addition.

Which relay are you using?

I got this one http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0057O ... UTF8&psc=1 haven't installed it yet. There are 2 and 1 channel versions, but since the 4 channel version was $11 I didn't care about saving $1 so maybe the extra relays will come in handy, might also switch some lighting.

I was in Home Depot looking for a nice junction box to put the relay, cord, and outlets in and didn't find what I was looking for (I guess I wasn't really in the mood that day) and my son asked me why I didn't just print a box to use.

Made me wonder if there are any considerations when putting a line level project in a 3D printed container - any thoughts? Does anyone have a project box design they like?

That is only rated for 10A. That won't be sufficient. The M2 can draw 300W, or 12.5A at 24V.

Oh wait, 10A at 250V. That is more than sufficient, never mind.

I'd be switching it at the 120V side.

I just installed dropbox on my two computers. I had no idea it was so well integrated with the desktop. Eventually I'll get this home networking thing straightened out, but for everyday transfer of models back and forth, this is great.

Before I get too carried away with dropbox- is there any security risk here? I mean, if someone hacked into dropbox's servers, what could they potentially access on my home computers? I don't care about the files in the dropbox folder, but elsewhere on my system I'd like to know I'm not more vulnerable than usual.

They make assurances. But nobody really knows. Your best source of comfort is the knowledge that a ton of people use Dropbox, so if anything like that happened you would definitely hear about it.
