Networking
Re: Networking
It is wired the wireless was too far away to get a good signal
Re: Networking
ok. i've got mine wired now and the cpu usage isnt 100% like it was last night while i was viewing the cam. i know signal quality wasn't an issue at all because the pi was only about 7 ft from the base station. i'm guessing either the driver sucks or networking over the usb bus is just too cpu intensive for it in general.
Re: Networking
It would be competing for webcam Wi-Fi network card and printer streaming Gcode.
Re: Networking
I know that the author of OctoPrint and nophead are looking into a high CPU issue with the Raspberry Pi camera, don't know if it's an issue with other USB cameras.

Can you tell him he has a fan I really like this software!sprior wrote:I know that the author of OctoPrint and nophead are looking into a high CPU issue with the Raspberry Pi camera, don't know if it's an issue with other USB cameras.
Re: Networking
You can tell her yourself if you want, here is the Google Groups discussion on the high CPU usage with the Raspberry Pi camera: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic ... PF4XVTxDeg
Re: Networking
I have added Fan bracket with LED’s that Dale created. This makes the web camera look much better.

Now I don’t need to leave the light on in the room where the printer is.
I added the printer to my home automation I can turn on/off the printer power from our phones kindles latoptops…
I turn on the power to the printer then startup Octoprint and get everything hot before I go in the room.
The next step is to have octoprint turn off the printer power when the print is done. The G code turns off everything but the power supply but I will have it turn that off also.
I have been just copying the print files to the raspberry Pi and printing from there. I have not had one issue with this and I have printed for many hours doing this.

Re: Networking
That reminds me, check out nophead's blog for some updates on the CPU issue. Hydraraptor.blogspot.com, I believe. I saw recently that he had a post on some settings to reduce CPU/bandwidth usage.
