Waiting for my M2

Post by Toyotany » Sat Dec 27, 2014 2:33 pm

After reading about the M2 and researching the FF I ordered the M2.
No questions yet but I am sure they will come when I set up and start.

Exactly 1 month and it's here. Set up and connected to my Mac book pro running Simplify 3d software. Exported a thingiverse filament clip. Watched the bed heat up then the extruder. No filament the first time or the second. Third time it passed over the bed and extruded whiskers. Re read my notes. Waiting a month I did a lot of reading and forum surfing. Put some blue tape on the bed turned off the heat. Raised the extruder up to 215, it showed on the plot that it was 225. Eleven minutes later a perfect filament clip. Next I may try the open source tool chain on my PC.

When you first fed the filament in, did you "purge" until plastic was coming out the nozzle before beginning the print? It doesn't sound like it ... I'm guessing it just took 3 prints until the plastic made it through the hotend, since the filament clips aren't very large.

It did start to extrude after 3 tries. The final print came out fine. Tomorrow I will probably be snowed in. Plenty of test time. This forum has been a great help even before it arrived.
