New here!

Post by brolly759 » Sun Dec 28, 2014 2:47 am

Just wanted to introduce myself! I ordered an M2 kit a few days ago. Since then I put together an enclosure thanks to the IKEA hack mentioned in other forums. I added egg crate sound proofing and an antivibration mat that lines the bottom of the box. Because I am keeping this at the office I work at in NYC, I need it to be as quite as possible. Had to add a lock as well. :) I also got a table that sits over the box to protect it from getting kicked. I am going to work on the ventilation system and adding the filament to the outside of the box.

Very nice, but it will look a lot better with an M2 in it. :)

In spite of a recent 3D printer review that seemed to think that most 3D printers including the M2 were overly noisy, the M2 is not particularly noisy, although the tonal whine of the stepper motors can be a bit of a distraction if the machine is sitting right next to you. I expect that with your setup, it will be very quiet. . .

Looks nice! Do you have any vent on it? The electronics might get kind of hot sealed in there.

Not sure of how much heat the extruder drive motor can take.
It gets plenty hot on it's own out in the open.

No ventilation yet but I will add it soon. I want the printer to come in so I can determine whether or not I want the electronics inside or out and sizing/space issues. I will be printing primarly in ABS plastic because I want to test Acetone vapor tech and try to make a small SAFE product that uses acetone so I can add that in 3Dhubs and recoup hopefully some money :) Also purchased the Simplify3D software
