Unique situation available...

Post by insta » Thu Jul 09, 2015 9:56 pm

It's no mystery I have a handful of machines, but what may not be apparent is they are all different vintages.

I have a V3a 19/12v system with a 1.1 RAMBo (1/16th microstepping)
I have a V3b 24v system with 1.3 RAMBo (1/16th microstepping)
I have a 24v system with an E3D v6 (I don't *want* to run anything but Nylon through it but I will for science if that's what's requested)

I have 24v / v4 single kits incoming for both. My unique situation is that I can run the same print on the same machine before/after the upgrade, as well as compare side-to-side.

I don't have a ton of downtime with my machines, so the prints would need to be quick but impactful. Does anybody have suggestions?

uhhhh what are you asking? are you saying you want to be able to put a single gcode file in any of the printers and have them print the same?

Sorry, I'm asking if anybody has suggestions for prints they'd like to see before/after on a V3a, V3b, V4, or E3Dv6.

Boring I know but I'd like to see the 3dBenchy done on each one. All things being kept equal apart from the nozzle.

3dBenchy is reasonable. I'll use the same GCode between all the machines on the cleanest nozzles I can.

I like this idea ! I expect to see little difference between them. Will be interesting to see though.

Hey, insta! Is the MAKE Magazine torture test object from a couple years ago (the box, arch, nine cylinders, hex holes, http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:33902 ) too much to ask for?

Well here's one round, this isn't the benchmarks we asked for (boo insta boo), but it is the exact same GCode of a customer's part. He's fine with me sharing pictures, but not really talking about it. Filament is eSUN black PLA. Guess which one is the v4! The other is a V3b for comparison.
